80 Years of Legendary Sound: Klipsch Unlocks the Vault to Release Limited Edition Two-Way Klipschorn

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (June 4, 2026) — Klipsch® the iconic American audio brand that has delivered Legendary American Sound since 1946, proudly announces a statement of origin and evolution: the Limited Edition 80th Anniversary Klipschorn. Making its global debut June 4-7, during the HIGH END Vienna 2026, the new anniversary Klipschorn is a fully horn-loaded loudspeaker that reimagines and revitalizes Paul W. Klipsch’s original patented design of 1946. This high-performance two-way loudspeaker will be limited to 280 pairs available worldwide, and features a two-way, high-performance design, modernized with an active crossover for exceptional dynamics, clarity, and efficiency. Finished in a rich Tigerwood veneer, the new model is accented with a brass inlay outlining the contour of its folded horn. Each Klipschorn is hand-built to order by skilled artisans at the factory in Hope, Arkansas.
“We created this special edition of the Klipschorn to pay homage to Paul W. Klipsch’s tech of 1946, which remains incredibly relevant today,” said Klipsch’s COO Vinny Bonacorsi. “It’s a testament to his legacy that, 80 years on, we’re bringing his original patented designs back to life. From his early interest in active networks to the category-defining K-5-J horn, we’ll always work with purpose to honor his intentions, using all available engineering advancements to push the threshold of what’s possible.”
At its core, the Limited Edition 80th Anniversary Klipschorn symbolizes Klipsch’s origins, while advancing the Heritage Series legacy of craftsmanship and performance. A modern interpretation of PWK’s original, patented two-way design, the new model advances his eight-decades-old breakthrough with a new K-5-K high-frequency horn (2" throat) mated to a high-powered 4" compression driver that uses the motor structure of the Klipsch Jubilee to deliver explosive dynamics, lifelike detail, and room-filling presence all with astonishing ease. The Klipschorn’s innovative folded-horn design increases the bass extension and efficiency of its fully enclosed low-frequency cabinet and powerful K-33-E 15" woofer. The result is deep, rich bass of remarkable clarity and impact.
The active crossover isn’t a new concept for the modern era of Heritage loudspeakers. Rather, it’s a continuation of PWK’s original thinking. Even in his design of 1946, he was already dabbling in active networks well ahead of his time as early schematics show a PWK-designed network and amplifier design that was never put into production. It was important that the design be brought up-to-date to also include the external active DSP crossover network adjusts the phase and time delay to eliminate acoustic cancellations and maximize output in the crossover region for the ultimate audio experience. The DSP network also seamlessly blends adjustments to EQ and gain. Finished in matching Tigerwood veneer and designed for flexible placement on a shelf or within a rack, the Klipsch Active Crossover further features adjustable low- and high-frequency trim controls, allowing the system to be tailored to both personal tastes and the listening environment.
As part of this special collection, Limited Edition 80th Anniversary Klipschorn buyers will also receive a complimentary membership to the Klipsch Museum of Audio History, a 501(c)(3) organization that sponsors one of the few museums dedicated solely to audio. This time capsule, open to the public, houses exhibits that span PWK’s extraordinary life, including priceless artifacts from the dawn of hi-fi. The Museum’s mission is to restore, preserve, maintain, and display audio artifacts and archival materials for historic purposes, while conducting pertinent historical research, and hosting educational activities and events that use PWK’s science of sound to foster interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEAM) education.
Klipsch has reached deep into its archives for this celebration, not only to produce this special Klipschorn, but also to revive PWK’s celebrated KlipschTape stereo recordings from the 1950s, which he used as demo tracks for dealers and enthusiasts. Each Klipschorn Anniversary system includes a special 180g vinyl pressing of tracks selected from the KlipschTape archives, including some never heard before. Klipsch fans interested in purchasing this LP separately can do so from Klipsch Museum of Audio History.
As with all Heritage Series loudspeakers , each pair of the new model is hand-built in Hope with book-matched veneer to provide a mirror image of the grain pattern across the two speakers. The result is a stunning visual presentation, and the Limited Edition 80th Anniversary Klipschorn elevates it further with brass inlay accents complementing its Tigerwood finish and sandcast aluminum horn.
An engineering marvel when it launched in 1946, the Klipschorn holds the rare distinction as the world’s oldest commercial loudspeaker in continuous production for over 80 years.
