Founded by Indianapolis restaurateur Martha Hoover in 2013, The Patachou Foundation upends traditional nonprofit paradigms to make a deep and immediate impact on hunger in Indianapolis.

The Foundation began by serving just 30 meals to one school each week, prepared with loaned space from a restaurant kitchen. That impact has grown to over 5,000 meals a week in partnership with 10 school and community sites.

In addition to serving daily, scratch-made meals for kids, The Patachou Foundation’s work has expanded to address the root causes of hunger by creating opportunity through food.

This includes a paid workforce development program for high school students to gain employable skills and certifications in the food system, and equipping schools to fight hunger from inside the cafeteria through sustainable solutions to school food.
