INDIANAPOLIS (July 20, 2006) — When it came to selecting products that, in the past year, have introduced true advances in the industry and outstanding value for the customer, consumer electronics retailers throughout the U.S. and the editors of AudioVideo International selected the Klipsch Reference Series RF-83 floorstanding speaker for a 2006 HI-FI Grand Prix Award.
Now in its 28th year, the HI-FI Grand Prix Awards are a national competition designed to give recognition and encouragement to industry efforts to advance the quality of audio and custom installation products.
This year the AudioVideo International editors confirmed the awards based on the votes of the publication’s top 100 consumer electronics retailers and approximately 1,000 selected subscribers in the audio/video retailing sector. The criteria for choosing the best products were based on fidelity of audio reproduction, design and engineering excellence, product reliability, ease of use, and price-performance ratio.
Klipsch designed its Reference Series RF-83 floorstander to be the best of the best. This fourth generation product utilizes three high-output 8-inch Cerametallic™ woofers and a 1.25-inch titanium compression driver with exclusive Tractrix® Horn-loaded technology to deliver the company’s efficient and compromise-free acoustics. Available in either a cherry or black wood veneer finish, the RF-83 also features bi-wire inputs with premium binding posts and Klipsch custom internal wiring for high-quality connection.
“Raising the bar from an already very high point, the new RF-83 floorstander delivers smooth overall sound together with more bass, power and detail than its predecessor,” said Jim Garrett, Klipsch director of product marketing.
The RF-83 carries a U.S. MSRP of $2,498 per pair and can be purchased at specialty A/V retailers nationwide.
