3002

You have selected a Klipsch Classic product.

The 3000 Series THX® Ultra2-Certified amplifiers from Aragon set a new standard for powerful, dynamic, high-end performance at reasonable prices. While somewhat similar in design to the 2000 Series, the 3000 Series amplifiers feature twice as many output devices, larger filter capacitors and bigger power supplies resulting in improved bass response and enhanced definition and clarity. The 3000 Series amplifiers will deliver 300 watts into 8 ohms and 500 watts into 4 ohms for effortless performance from nearly any loudspeaker systems - even those with low sensitivity or difficult impedance characteristics. Both of the amplifiers in this series adhere to Mondial Designs' classic minimalist approach and THX® Ultra2 specifications, which together ensure the highest level of premium performance and product reliability.

Most amplifiers on the market today are overly complex and require rows of integrated circuits (IC's) for protection circuitry, control loops and signal buffering. This has a negative impact on sound reproduction. The 3002 is a 2-channel amplifier that achieves its high output using the fewest active components possible for a more dynamic, more powerful and more detailed performance. The minimalist approach of our design results not only in better sound, but in amplifiers that consistently rate among the most reliable available at any price.

When it comes to music systems, most high-end two-channel amplifiers typically employ dual mono power supply configurations. In other words, each channel operates as its own entity and only has as much output available as its power supply can provide. (The demands of stereo music are such that you would rarely find one channel needing much more output than the other.) In today's multi-channel theater and music systems, the power supply requirements are quite different. The dynamics of modern digital soundtracks can demand huge amounts of power from different channels at different times. One way to provide for that would be to use multiple large power supplies, but that results in additional cost, size and weight. The 3000 Series amplifiers feature a single power supply design that we call SmartPower™. In this configuration, a channel could provide substantially more than its rated output for short periods of time by getting more energy from the power supply while the other channels aren't demanding as much. SmartPower™ enables the amplifier to perform at optimal levels in high-end two-channel audio environments as well as in the most demanding home theater applications.

The Aragon 3000 Series amplifiers feature gold-plated RCA phono jack inputs, balanced XLR inputs and dual sets of insulated five-way binding post outputs for each channel. The clean and contemporary good looks are achieved through the inclusion of a machined aluminum front panel with an engraved Aragon logo and elegant blue LED lighting that perfectly complements the available black or silver finish options. An included dimmer switch allows you to choose full or half brightness, as well as allowing you to completely turn off the LED lighting.

Classic Aragon product.

The 8008BB delivers all the power your AC line can provide. This places it in a very rare and elite group of amplifiers. It is capable of converting, to the most refined amplification, the entire 15 amps and 120 volts of your standard AC power line. Wattage specifications do not determine how well an amplifier can power and control a real loudspeaker. Unlike test loads used to measure amplifier power, loudspeakers vary in impedance and inductance. Since amplifiers need to have a power rating, we very conservatively rate the 8008BB at 200 watts of continuous power per channel. The notch carved into the top of the chassis ensures that the heat generated by all this power will be properly dissipated even if a shelf or another component is placed on top of the amplifier.

The 8008BB is actually two separate mono block amplifiers contained within a single chassis. Each monoblock powers its respective channel with an individual 1,100va toroidal transformer. The 8008BB has twice the rectification and twice the storage capacitance of the 8008ST. In other words, each monoblock contained within the chassis has as much rectification and capacitance as the 8008ST's entire power supply.Along with the larger power supply, the 8008BB has two different inputs-single-ended and balanced. Both of these inputs are fully discrete Class A. The matched output stage transistors are increased by 50%. These additional transistors assist in maintaining linearity during low impedance operation.

8002

Classic Aragon product.

The decision to acquire an 8002 is based on power not compromise because the 8002 offers all the quality and refinement of the Aragon 8008. It utilizes the quality circuit board and components of all 8000 series amplifiers. The dual wound toroidial transformer and twin rectifiers maintain the channel separation and sound stage specificity possible only with dual mono operation.

Due to the size of these power supplies, a 3/4 horsepower switch turns the amplifier on and off. Even with a switch of this magnitude, the amount of inrush current required to feed the enormous power supply would eventually cause the switch to weld itself. To prevent this, a slow start circuit is employed which trickle charges the supply at turn on. The slow start not only protects the on-off switch, but also protects all the circuits from the electrical shock encountered at turn on.

The massive heat sinks provide the cooling required for continuous power into the lowest impedance loads. Unlike other amplifier manufacturers which make wild claims about peak amperage, the 8002 provides the continuous amperage and voltage that is needed to properly drive and control low impedance loads. Peak power or transient power, whether stated as peak amps, volts or watts cannot accommodate the sustained power requirements needed to generate low frequencies and sustained notes. An amplifier can provide the equivalent peak power from continuous power, but cannot provide the equivalent continuous power from transient power.

Although the 8002 is very conservatively rated at 125 watts per channel, it is capable of more power into varying impedance loads than most supposedly 'high power' amplifiers. It can therefore provide Aragon sound quality to the majority of loudspeakers.

Palladium II

Classic Aragon Amplifier

The Palladium is Aragon's finest effort in amplifier design. Its ability to drive and control any loudspeaker load is astonishing. The amplifier's combination of both smoothness and effortlessness is unique. The power supply is so massive that a separate chassis is required for each channel of amplification. The Palladium is available as either a single-ended or balanced dual differential monoblock amplifier. It utilizes fully discrete Class A complementary circuitry from input to output in all audio signal stages. The circuit is designed so that all components function at their most linear point. This ensures that the amplifier's output operates at the highest level of accuracy, independent of frequency or gain. Balanced dual differential operation is achieved by the use of two discrete amplifiers in the single chassis forming the monoblock. This allows the positive and negative balanced input signals to be amplified separately. Using this method of amplification, the speaker is isolated from the amplifiers' input ground. This ensures that the demands for power made by the loudspeaker will have no effect on the rest of the audio chain.

The implementation of Class A outputs eliminates any possibility of crossover notch distortion. The high bias required for Class A operation provides for the bipolar output transistors to operate without crossover distortion within the Palladium's 125 watt Class A power rating. Power is supplied to the circuits by a specially wound 2,000va transformer. This massive transformer allows the Palladium to deliver tremendous amounts of both current and voltage to the loudspeaker. As with all Class A power amplifiers, the Palladium operates in A/B mode into 4 and 2 ohm loads. At 4 ohms, the amplifier will generate over 600 watts continuous power, and at 2 ohms, it will supply up to a kilowatt of power. The Palladium monoblock amplifiers are handcrafted in mirror imaged pairs. Each amplifier is assembled, tested and matched to another amplifier, ensuring it is identical to its mate.

The Palladium is a superior amplifier in every sense of the word. Although it can be classified as exotic, it is totally reliable. Although it has an unsurpassed smoothness and sweetness, it never rounds off the music's details. Although it is capable of reproducing the subtlest musical nuance, it is one of the most powerful amplifiers ever created.

Classic Aragon product.

The Aragon 8008 is internationally regarded as one of the most refined and accurate amplifiers ever created. We are now able to offer this accurate circuitry in an amplifier specifically designed for advanced home theater applications. The Aragon 8008X3 amplifier has three 8008 channel modules in a single chassis. This massive amplifier can deliver a total of 1,200 continuous watts when sufficient line voltage is maintained. The only restriction on the amount of power your speakers will receive is the capability of the AC line voltage.

Unlike the 8008ST and 8008BB, the 8008X3 is not dual mono or in this case triple mono for a very good reason. The 8008X3 is intended for multichannel home theater use. With stereo music reproduction, the power demand, from the two speakers, tends to be rather equal. For example, it is very rare for bass to be emanating from only one speaker. It is therefore important for an amplifier to be dual mono so that in demanding musical passages proper separation is maintained and the soundstage remains constant with the instruments locked in their original location.

With home theater sound reproduction, the source of the sound is quite often moving. For example, the roar of a jet engine will move across the screen and the soundfield by beginning at one speaker and ending at another. By allowing the three channels to share one huge power supply, the 8008X3 can direct power, well beyond its per channel power rating, to any given speaker. This is also an advantage when powering two identical speakers and one different speaker. This occurs many times in home theater systems when the center channel is different from the side or rear speakers. In this situation, the 8008X3 is capable of providing less than rated power to the more efficient or less demanding speaker and more than rated power to the less efficient speaker.

4004 MkII

Classic Aragon product.

Aragon has produced a remarkable power amplifier...the 4004MKII. In addition to its sophisticated state of the art circuit topology, this amplifier fully embodies our philosophy of power supply design. The 200 watt per channel 4004MKII contains two separate mono amplifiers in a single chassis. A pair of high-efficiency, heavy duty torodial power transformers whose low hum fields, relatively light weight and compact dimensions make it possible to install this amplifier on a shelf adjacent to other components. Yet, it delivers all the power possible from a standard 15 amp AC line.

Power supply circuits and transformers influence sonic qualities by their ability to cope with the demands of the single handling circuitry. The dual mono configuration of Aragon stereo power amplifiers yield consistent separation throughout the audio frequency range, affecting the ability to produce a stable image independent of any power requirements or AC line conditions. Unlike almost all other amplifiers, Aragon doubles its 8 ohm power when driving a 4 ohm load, and the continuous output power continues to increase into 2 and 1 ohm loads. Hence, the model number 4004 is based on continuous watts per channel into 4 ohms.

Classic Aragon product.

To create one of the world's most acclaimed amplifiers requires more than brute power, it requires refined sound. To achieve that goal requires a no compromise approach to parts selection and circuit design. In the 4004 a quad array transistor package is utilized in the pre-driver stage, yielding matched transistors and equal temperature coefficients. The output transistors are matched to over 30 categories, more stringent than any other audio manufacturer. The 4004 contains dual torodial power transformers, which are annealed in nitrogen. The steel of the transformer core is selected by grain structure. Gold plated connectors from Tiffany are used for the inputs. The output connectors are by Monster Cable. Circuit heat dissipation is by convection via the distinctive "V" notch in the top of the chassis. This unique design allows for proper cooling even when a shelf or component is placed on top of an Aragon amplifier.

A member of the first generation of Aragon branded amplifiers. The 4004 amplifier delivers 200 watts per channel at an 8 ohm load, and doubled to 400 watts per channel into a 4 ohm load. This capability is highlighted in the amplifier's designation as "4004" or "400 watts into 4 ohms".

Classic Aragon product.

To create one of the world's most acclaimed amplifiers requires more than brute power, it requires refined sound. To achieve that goal requires a no compromise approach to parts selection and circuit design. The circuitry, construction and componetry of the 2004 are the same as found in the 4004 model. A quad array transistor package is utilized in the pre driver stage, yielding matched transistors and equal temperature coefficients. The output transistors are matched to over 30 categories, more stringent than any other audio manufacturer. The 100 watt per channel power supply is larger than any other 200 watt amplifier in the 2004's class. The torodial power transformer is annealed in nitrogen. The steel of the transformer core is selected by grain structure. Gold plated connectors from Tiffany are used for the inputs. The output connectors are by Monster Cable. Circuit heat dissipation is by convection via the distinctive "V" notch in the top of the chassis. This unique design allows for proper cooling even when a shelf or component is placed on to of an Aragon amplifier.

The 2004 amplifier was part of the first generation of Aragon amplifiers. This amplifier shared many qualities with the more powerful 4004 except at half the power; delivering 200-watts per channel at 4 ohms, and 100-watts per channel at 8 ohms. The wattage rating at the 4 ohm speaker load lead to the designation of "2004".

Classic Aragon product.

Aragon has produced a remarkable power amplifier...the 2004MKII. In addition to its sophisticated state of the art circuit topology, this amplifier fully embodies our philosophy of power supply design. The 100 watt per channel 2004MKII uses a single dual-wound, heavy duty toroidal transformer whose capabilities exceed those of the transformers found in conventional 200 watt amplifiers.

2005

You have selected a Klipsch Classic product.

The 2000 Series THX® Ultra2-Certified amplifiers from Aragon bring powerful, dynamic, high-end performance to the masses at substantially lower pricing. The 2000 Series amplifiers will deliver 200 watts into 8 ohms and 300 watts into 4 ohms for effortless performance from nearly any loudspeaker systems. All three amplifiers in this series adhere to Mondial Designs' classic minimalist approach and THX® Ultra2 specifications, which together ensure the highest level of premium performance and product reliability.

Most amplifiers on the market today are overly complex and require rows of integrated circuits (IC's) for protection circuitry, control loops and signal buffering. This has a negative impact on sound reproduction. The 2005 is a 5-channel amplifier that achieves its high output using the fewest active components possible for a more dynamic, more powerful and more detailed performance.

The 2000 Series amplifiers feature a single power supply design that we call SmartPower™.

The Aragon 2000 Series amplifiers feature gold-plated RCA phono jack inputs and insulated five-way binding post outputs for each channel.
