Detailed Description

As the first iPod-dockable home stereo system on the market, the award-winning iFi combines audiophile-quality performance with aesthetic flair. This iPod speaker is perfect for use in a den, bedroom, office or dorm room, this sub/sat setup includes a dock cradle and long-range radio frequency remote.

The iFi works with most dockable iPods, including the iPod mini, iPod Nano, and iPod video. Early 1G/2G iPods and iPod shuffles can't be docked, but can connect via the audio port on the rear of the dock or subwoofer.

Each self-standing or wall-mountable RSX-3 satellite (includes two) is a two-way, magnetically shielded speaker that employs a 3.5-inch aluminum woofer and a 0.75-inch titanium dome compression driver coupled to an exclusive round MicroTractrix™ Horn.

The 8-inch subwoofer, designed specifically for this system, has a built-in Class D amplifier that distributes 200 watts of peak system power to successfully drive all the channels. It also features a slot port and line level input. A unique tuning approach is used to achieve a sound character typically found in much larger subwoofer boxes.

Generating the most buzz in iPod circles, the dock cradle provides a volume dial, standby/mute button, volume/subwoofer select button and a light bar to help indicate the current volume level. When your iPod is in the dock cradle, it provides a line-level audio signal to the iFi, and the iFi returns the favor by charging the iPod.

The radio frequency remote can send signals through walls and floors and up to six remotes can be used to control the iFi and a docked iPod from virtually anywhere in the home.

Klipsch was founded in 1946 on a deep-rooted love of music and it's this ongoing passion that allows us to continue to develop products, such as the iFi, that excite and engage listeners.

Reviews

"The subwoofer is quite powerful, and you can vary the output widely for different types of listening. We cranked it up for dance tracks and were rewarded with deep, fairly well-defined bass, but for most other types of music, the subwoofer's flat setting provided the most realistic sound."
- Michael Kobrin, PCmag.com [11/1/2005]

"... the iFi's performance turned out to be a real revelation. Songs I'd downloaded from the iTunes store and heard only with earphones sounded startlingly full, detailed, and lifelike."
- Al Griffin, Sound & Vision [9/19/2005]

"Its two satellite speakers pump out thick, lush sounds while the subwoofer injects some much-needed low-end into flat-sounding Internet files."
- Tim Farrell, Indy Men's Magazine [8/1/2005]

"...a 2.1 configuration that will turn your iPod into the stereo you always dreamed about."
- Amy R. Wood, MacHome [8/1/2005]

"...if you're looking for maximum sound quality when listening to your iPod at home, the Klipsch iFi is the 800-pound gorilla among flea-powered iPod-speaker alternatives. It just plain sounds better, has deeper, more powerful bass, plays louder, has better stereo separation —and thanks to its versatile remote, is easier to use."
- Steve Guttenberg, CNET [6/1/2005]

"The iFi's sound quality stands head and shoulders above that of its iPod-speaker competition."
- Steve Guttenberg, CNET [6/1/2005]

"... as far as sound is concerned, iFi is bigger, badder and louder than the SoundDock."
- Jeremy Horwitz, iPodlounge [4/5/2005]

"It's an ultra high performance speaker system designed just for dockable iPods and I agree with my testers wholeheartedly: The Klipsch iFi is the best-sounding iPod speaker system I've ever heard, and not just by a small margin, either."
- Bob "Dr. Mac" LeVitus, the Mac Observer [6/1/2005]

"As the first iPod-dockable home speaker system on the market, and one that largely lives up to its advertising hype, the Klipsch iFi is in a class of its own."
- Dan Frakes, Playlist [5/5/2005]

"... the pre-production iFis offer a sonic experience that outstrips Bose's — and pretty much all other iPod-specific speaker systems — by a fair margin. You'd have to be deaf not to notice the bass power of the included subwoofer, which doesn't need to be on full blast to create sub-sonic vibrations, and creates rich sound regardless of whether it's filling a room or playing quietly."
- Jeremy Horwitz, iPodlounge [5/5/2005]
