INDIANAPOLIS (March 7, 2006) - The Klipsch R-5650-S in-wall surround sound speaker features a unique patented horn array that allows installers to create enveloping sound fields and localized effects from a decorator-friendly, flush-mount design. In fact, Electronic House Expo (EHX) voted the R-5650-S the best in-wall speaker for less than $1,000 per pair last November.

Designed specifically for use in home theater applications, the R-5650-S employs a 6.5-inch Cerametallic™ woofer and dual 1-inch titanium compression drivers. Because of its patented horn array - two vertically stacked Skewed Tractrix® Horn-loaded tweeters pointing in opposite directions - the R-5650-S outperforms conventional designs by maximizing diffusion, clarity and efficiency, while minimizing room interactions that blur sonic detail.

The R-5650-S draws listeners into the middle of the action through the use of Klipsch's proprietary Wide Dispersion Surround Technology™ or WDST. The careful alignment of the two controlled-directivity Tractrix Horn tweeters, angled opposite of one another, yields an incredibly wide dispersion pattern.

"By taking a no-compromise approach, the R-5650-S brings dynamic and realistic performances to virtually any installed home theater configuration," said Jim Garrett, director of product marketing. "In fact, no other company has been able to achieve such a high-performance level in this type of package."

Able to function in any standard wall, ceiling or drop ceiling, the R-5650-S can be paired with the Klipsch IK-650-W installation kit (sold separately). This revolutionary kit design incorporates a mud ring, breakaway wire tie and color-coded brackets for easy speaker size identification. The kit also comes with perforated metal wings that easily fasten to the studs via screws, staples or nails. Ribbed for increased rigidity, these wings enable a kit to span up to 24 inches easily. Painted white for easy marking and placement, these metal wings will fold around the edge of the studs if necessary.

The R-5650-S carries a U.S. MSRP of $699 per pair and is available through the residential contracting channel.
