Introducing the Klipsch CMS 4.1 Commercial Music System
INDIANAPOLIS (May 25, 2004) - In response to installer demand for inconspicuous, easy-to-install, high-quality loudspeakers for distributed-line applications, Klipsch Audio Technologies has developed a new compact commercial system that is an excellent choice for 70V/100V setups.
The new CMS 4.1 Commercial Music System was designed with a high level of operational convenience and versatility in mind. It combines performance, style and functionality for businesses that are seeking dynamic sound and an elegant appearance, but require small, unobtrusive speakers for their environments.
This system consists of four low-profile 7.5-inch tall commercial satellites, four durable commercial mounting kits, a flexible commercial outboard network and the choice of either a surface mount or in-ceiling subwoofer. However, these components are all sold separately so that additional models can easily be configured into the system to meet the specific needs of any size installation.
"The CMS 4.1 is a real problem solver," said Jim Breen, business unit manager of commercial contracting and corporate development for Klipsch. "This compact-sized audio solution is the high-performance, high-style answer for commercial venues that refuse to trade off great sound for style and convenience."
Available in black or white, the smoothly shaped satellite is a marvel of miniature technology that maximizes output and dynamics. This two-way, magnetically shielded speaker employs a 3.5-inch poly cone woofer and uses a 0.75-inch polymer dome compression driver coupled to Klipsch's exclusive MicroTractrix™ Horn. The horn is formed right into the cabinet baffle offering the lowest diffraction and maximum release of energy into the listening area. The rear ported, bass-reflex enclosure maximizes bass response for a clean and seamless sound.
Also available in black or white, the mounting kit features a UL-listed metal wall plate and a fiber reinforced polymer arm that offers both tilt and swivel options. Once properly positioned, the mounting arm can easily be locked into place with the provided adjustment tool. To enhance the cosmetics of the finished installation, a wire cover is also included in the kit to conceal the satellite's color-matched wire.
As one of the subwoofer options, the compact, installer-friendly CA-SW-8T is an all-purpose, indoor/outdoor passive surface mount model with an internal multi-tap transformer. This product delivers deep, driving sound through an 8-inch, long excursion driver that has a high-temperature voice coil attached to an IMG (injection-molded graphite) cone that combines light weight, excellent rigidity, and water resistance. For easy wall or ceiling mounting, the CA-SW-8T comes with a C-bracket assembly that attaches to threaded studs in the cabinet with oversized knobs, ensuring positive lock.
Also compact and easy-to-install, the IC-SW-8T in-ceiling subwoofer option features a transformer-less design that delivers high-impact, robust bass. This model adds more dimension to any in-ceiling configuration by using an 8-inch woofer with a high-temperature voice coil and an 8-inch passive radiator with a polypropylene cone. While most subwoofers use a port to increase output, the IC-SW-8T employs a bandpass design that utilizes a passive radiator. This eliminates a lot of distortion and minimizes turbulence that is often found in ported designs. The IC-SW-8T is shipped complete with tile bridge for installation in a suspended ceiling or wherever additional reinforcement of the ceiling material is required.
Specifically designed for this system, the advanced outboard network is housed in a UL-approved metal box and features 70V/100V tap-settings and serves as a hub for up to four satellites and the chosen subwoofer.
