INDIANAPOLIS, IN (January 5, 2010) — Klipsch made a huge statement in 2007 when it entered the headphone market with its tiny Image X10, an ultra lightweight in-ear design that’s been praised for its unequaled comfort and sound quality. Today, the company is adding a mic and remote to these award-winning, luxury headphones and calling it the Image X10i.

According to Don Inmon, Klipsch director of product development for personal audio, the company’s new flagship X10i is designed for the iPhone 3GS, iPod touch and iPod. It offers the absolute best in style, sound, comfort and fit.

“The X10i is free of compromise at every level,” he said. “We had great success with our X10 in-ear headphones, so it made perfect sense to evolve the product and start catering to discriminating, on-the-go users who are constantly listening to music and taking phone calls.”

While the Image X10i serves as a great pair of premium headphones for any device with a 3.5 mm headphone jack, its advanced mic and three-button remote seamlessly handles the voice and/or music control of the following Apple products: iPhone 3GS, third generation iPod shuffle, second generation iPod touch, fourth and fifth generation iPod nano models and the iPod classic 120GB. If you have an iPod touch or iPhone and Wi-Fi access, you can also use the X10i with VOIP (need an adapter for PC or Mac), Skype and iChat.

The X10i positions its in-line mic and remote at the yoke—where the two cables meet at chest level—to create a more natural feel when answering calls and controlling music. Because the microphone is a highly intelligible 360-degree design, you don’t have to talk down into it or hold it close to your mouth. The microphone also features echo cancellation, which keeps it from picking up surrounding noise.

Like all Klipsch headphones, the Image X10i utilizes the company’s patented oval ear tips for comfortable long-term wear, superior noise isolation and excellent bass. Unlike circular-shaped designs that put stress on the pressure points inside the ear, these soft exclusive ear tips naturally fit the contours of the ear canals. “Almost everyone has an oval-shaped ear canal, so we wanted our products to be as anatomically correct as possible,” noted Inmon. “Once you have the right fit and seal, these headsets are virtually impossible to feel.”

Inside each of the X10i’s machined aluminum bodies finished in anodized copper, you’ll find an exclusive full-range armature micro-speaker with a tuned bass-reflex system for lifelike dynamics, sonic clarity and booming bass. “The X10i is not intended for casual listening,” said Inmon. “If you rip your digital music files using a poor compression format and low bit rate, this high-resolution Klipsch headset will uncover all the flaws in your content.”

Slated to launch next month, the Image X10i will be sold at klipsch.com and select retail locations for $349.99 (U.S. MSRP). It includes a two-year warranty, five pairs of different-sized ear tips, a protective carrying pouch, air plane and 1/4-inch jack adaptors, a clothing clip and an ear tip cleaning tool.
