Klipsch at CES 2017: Recap

We kicked ass at CES this year, simple as that.  Klipsch raised the bar in every category. There was no competition. Nobody brought more passion and determination than our team.

Side Note: We are not sorry for all the booths we pissed off during our time at CES. We take pride in being the LOUDEST & PROUDEST

Below is a showcase of our kick ass booth and some my favorite products we featured at CES.

The Social Media Guy Says “Thank You”

This is it. Today is my last day at Klipsch. It is surreal just to type that out.

Now, you may be wondering why the lowly “social media guy” is writing a blog post about his own departure. Is he really that arrogant and self-absorbed? Short answer? Probably. Long answer? Well…

There are two main reasons:  it’s a big deal when anyone leaves Klipsch (much less me) and I wanted to thank each and every one of you who has interacted with Klipsch social media for the four and a half years I have been in charge of the Klipsch platforms.

In the past four and a half years, I have seen many awesome coworkers and friends come and go just like at any normal company. This isn’t a normal company, though. We serve as each other’s second family, celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, cracking jokes and generally being a pain in each other’s’ asses. I’m going to miss the crap out of these *******.

Klipsch is a “smaller” company that manages to do downright incredible things in the audio industry, competing against much bigger foes. From marketing to engineering to customer service and so forth, we’re all under one roof with each and every Klipsch employee geared towards being the best, no matter the circumstances.

I should get around to thanking all of you who are reading this post and who have followed Klipsch on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Running these channels has been a challenge as Klipsch customers and fans are some of the most demanding and knowledgeable on the planet.

It has been a tremendous amount of fun, trying to explain the awesomeness of our gear is while having a little fun doing it. I sincerely hope that something I have posted over my four and a half years has brought a smile to your face at one point. I know plenty of you have done that for me.

I have always found it particularly entertaining and amusing when reading the funny responses, you all come up with for our caption contests and things of that ilk. I’ve caught myself laughing out loud in public at some of the ridiculous (and funny) things Klipsch fans have said. Oh and I really appreciate it when you come to Klipsch’s defense when internet trolls baselessly attack the company.

Hopefully, I have been helpful along the way for most of you and you have gotten a first class experience from the Klipsch brand. Yes, we may mess up sometimes, but we do genuinely care about making all of you as happy as possible with your purchases. We get that our products aren’t cheap and that you are expecting the very best.

For those curious, here are my Klipsch setups, check out the details below. I won’t go into all of the portable speakers and headphones that are littered throughout my house. (Side note: my friends and families are probably sick of receiving Klipsch gear as birthday/Christmas presents at this point.)

Which one sounds better? Tough to say since I use them for entirely different applications. I have a soft spot for the Heresy speakers because there is just so much history behind them and I love that they were handcrafted in Hope, Arkansas. Oh and they are absolutely stunning in person (even if my cat likes to scratch them) and they are stunning clear at high volumes. (Sorry, not sorry, to my neighbors.)

Anyway, I am not disappearing from the Klipsch landscape all together. The friends I have made here are of the permanent variety (whether they like it or not) and I am always going to be advocate for the company’s products. Heck, you may even find my rummaging through the Klipsch Forums from time to time.

The future for Klipsch is exceedingly bright and all Klipsch fans should be extremely excited by what the future holds. While I have gotten a glimpse of what’s to come, my lips are sealed. You’re just going to have to wait to find out! (Some clues are on the Klipsch Instagram, though.)

Thank you again to my coworkers and Klipsch Nation for these past four and a half years. Rock on.

How To Stop Your Cat From Scratching Your Speakers

When you bring new speakers into your house, you are making a lot of people happy. First and foremost, you are happy because all of your research has brought you to this point of audio nirvana. Your friends and family, while skeptical at first, will also reap the benefits. Lastly, if you have a cat, they are going to be stoked as well. After all, you just bought them a pair of giant scratching posts.

I have a cat named Robben (after the famous Dutch soccer player Arjen Robben). He was plucked from the streets after he came right up to my dog and he’s been part of the family ever since. He is technically a “feral” cat despite his playful and loving nature.

While he is insanely cute and wouldn’t hurt a fly (minus birds, mice, chipmunks, snakes and the other various critters he enjoys hunting), he likes to scratch things. My couch and my speakers, specifically.

Now, you’re on your own with your couch (Google has endless results for this problem), I am here to provide you with some first-hand tips on how to deal with your cat scratching your speakers.

Of course, it must be noted that this is not an official guide. Klipsch does not hold any responsibility for your cat and your cat-proofing methods ruining your speakers.

Stop Cat Scratching Speakers 2 social v02

Add More Scratching Posts

The easiest way to stop your cat from scratching you speakers is to simply give them more appetizing things to scratch or other toys to play with. Place them along the path of where your cat most frequently scampers around.  If you believe you have enough scratching posts, try rearranging them. Do not discard old scratching posts immediately. Place them next to the new scratching posts, so the cat can slowly adjust to the new one.

Take the Grilles Off Your Speakers

I am obviously extremely biased, but I’d say it’s a shame to cover up the copper cones (or the glorious woofers from our non-Reference series speakers). Freeing your speakers from their grilles may indeed remove your feline friend’s temptation of a tall, scratchable surface. Of course, we also must note that your child, niece, partner, etc may decide that the woofers look quite pokable, damaging your speaker(s) worse than a few scratches on the grilles.

In my own situation, Robben decided that the naked speaker was just as tempting, sinking his claws into the woofer itself. My high-pitched (and decidedly not masculine) scream scared him off temporarily.

Startle or Spray Your Cat

I’m not advocating that you take out deep-rooted anger on your cat companion or anything stupid like that. That being said, when your cat starts scratching, let out a yelp or scold them quickly and your cat will scurry away, hopefully never returning to scratch your speakers again.

Better yet, you could fill up a water bottle and give your kitty a quick spray when they commit the crime. It won’t take much, so don’t fill up a Supersoaker.

Spray Your Speakers with an Anti-Scratching Spray

There are tons of anti-scratching sprays that you can find in the aisles of your local pet store. I have only tried out Nature’s Miracle Scratching Deterrent Spray and its effectiveness is hit or miss.

Please be careful when using the spray, some speakers have very sensitive surfaces that should not be sprayed with any sort of liquid. I only spray the grille covers of my Heresy III speakers. Most of the time it seems to work; however, I did witness one such occasion where Robben went right to work on them mere minutes after I had applied the spray.

Add Scratch Covers to Your Speaker

This is the most extreme technique and also the most complicated. Call me lazy, but I cannot attest to whether it’ll be successful or not. Essentially, you need to turn your speakers into modified scratching posts. Put the fabric over the top of the speakers and your feline will have a go on the covers instead of your favorite speakers. Do not attach the fabric cover to the speaker themselves since you would be damaging your speaker that way and making the whole process pointless anyway.

Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-140SA Dolby Atmos

Put Something On Top of the Speakers

My cat (and presumably yours too if you are still reading) loves to get up to high places including the top of my Reference Premiere RP-260F floorstanding speakers. While it’s adorable and all, his little claws dig into the speaker as he tries to secure a grip.

Now, if the previously listed fixes don’t deter your cat from your speakers altogether, there is a simple fix that will work most the time. Put something on top of your speaker. In lieu of a tasteful plant or meaningful decorative object, I’ve actually placed a pair of Reference Premiere RP-140SA elevation speakers, cat-proofing the top of my speakers AND gifting myself Dolby Atmos technology. Double win.

Kitten Mittens

You’ll be smitten.

Stop Worrying About It

Seriously. Almost all of us tend to fret over the appearances of our speakers to an insane degree, but it really is so much better at the end of the day to just going nuts over every little nick and scratch. Call them marks of character. After all, no one will really notice besides you and the speakers will sound exactly as awesome as they did before your kitten decided to test out their claws.

What is your home audio setup for the climax of college basketball season? Post in the comments below.

This Media Console Truly Rocks

We are all proud of our Klipsch speakers. For those who are sporting big ol’ floorstanders, center channels, surrounds and subwoofers, they are often the focal point of the entire living room.

Now, there may be some of you who don’t give a darn what your setup looks like, but we know there are plenty of people who want to show off their audio investment in all it’s glory.

A few weeks ago, we stumbled upon what might be the best media console we have ever seen. It truly rocks.

Custom furniture makers Adam Owens and Michael Gutierrez work out of TechShop, which provides the resources for them to craft incredible pieces like this media console. The duo had mutual friends in the industry and came together after Owens saw Gutierrez build a wine cabinet in TechShop. While they both work for themselves – NuBoyNow and Michael Maximo – but their collaborations are symbolic of a community.

“Design is being able to open up to possibility and follow the process where it takes you. There is a great network of craftsmen and makers in Austin, TX that are always up for helping each other out if the process takes you to unknown territories.”

Several months ago, a client, who was looking for the perfect media console to house his AV equipment including the Reference Premiere RP-440C, approached them about building a custom media console for the speaker. Admittedly, Owens and Gutierrez had never heard of Klipsch before starting this project. Their initial designs were just to cut out a rectangle and simply use the black grille that comes with the RP-440C center channel.

“Once [the client] took off the cover and revealed the signature copper colored facade, we knew that the detail of beauty of the speaker face had to be accentuated somehow. With the ability to use precision CNC routing technology, we know we could dial in a perfect fit to create a truly customized appearance.”

The duo worked in collaboration with the client, who has quite the eye for details, to gather the correct proportions and perfect design for the media console. Owens handled the consulting and designing duties while Gutierrez built out this custom piece.

michael gutierrez adams owens media console 3

Owens said, “There were quite a few examples that the client had eyes on as far as aesthetic, he just couldn’t locate the perfect console. Black walnut was already being used throughout the house, so that was an easy choice for wood species. And I haven’t met a furniture maker that doesn’t like to work with walnut!”

The exquisite finish of the black walnut wood is thanks to a Sam Maloof Poly/Oil mix that “livens up the wood grain, giving it a nice hand-rubbed satin finish” which is one of Gutierrez’s favorites parts of any project.

The design of the media console called for the team to build one large box to enclose six smaller boxes. Of course, getting everything to fit just right was certainly a challenge.

“Just like the process of weaving, the glue-up of the components was a bit of a juggling act,” Gutierrez said. “There may have been a safer approach but we all know…fortune favors the brave! Maintaining precise alignment in order to achieve crisp shadow lines was challenging as well as keeping the waterfall effect clean and fluid.”

michael gutierrez adam owens media console 4

The end result left the client “super happy” and exceeded all of his expectations and those of Owens and Gutierrez as well.

“This is definitely at the top of the list of both of our lists of projects to date! Gutierrez said.”

They duo was able to demo the client’s full system to make sure the custom media console didn’t affect the way the RP-440C was wired or sounded. The duo were subsequently blown away by an action sequence from Star Wars: Return of the Sith.

Look, Klipsch speakers can certainly stand on their own aesthetically and, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you have a jaw-dropping media console. After all, your speakers are still going to sound amazing even if you’re rockin’ a 10-year-old particle board monstrosity.

But, man, this is just oh-so-freakin’ cool. Bravo, Adam and Michael.

Top 10 Dolby Atmos Movies of 2015

In 2015, we saw a slew of new speakers that could bring Dolby Atmos sound into the home. Even better, we saw a ton of Dolby Atmos-enabled Blu-rays that you could actually enjoy on those new equipment purchases.

If you aren’t familiar with Dolby Atmos, know that it’s an “object-based” sound format that can deliver a whole new dimension to your movie-watching. Most audio formats assign sound to channels in your system, but with Dolby Atmos, content creators can actually assign it to objects on-screen. That means spaceships will sound like they are flying overhead, from one end of the room to the other. You know, like actual spaceships. Of course, it works on birds, helicopters, explosions, and so much more. Dolby Atmos movies provide the most immersive viewing experience you can have at home, with sound coming from every angle—including above.

To experience Dolby Atmos movies, you will need an AV receiver that can decode the format, as well as additional speakers. Dolby recommends several different options to set up an Atmos system, including the installation in-ceiling speakers; however, there are also Atmos-enabled models that can process the format, without having to be placed on the ceiling. For instance, the Klipsch RP-140SA elevation channel speaker can sit atop any flat speaker (or surface) and project the audio to make it sound like it’s overhead, without having speakers that are actually over your head. There are also speakers like the Klipsch RP-280FA floorstanding speaker, which features a built-in elevation channel.

While your old Blu-ray player will work fine with Dolby Atmos, not every Blu-ray comes packing that type of format. There are so many good ones, though.

It should be noted that some Dolby Atmos-enabled receivers have the capability to improve ALL of your content, not just specifically encoded materials, thanks to “upmixing.” Upmixing allows you to hear height/elevation effects, creating a much more immersive, true-to-life experience versus traditional surround sound. This isn’t gimmicky technology. You will notice the benefits immediately. It will reinvigorate your existing movie collection, television programs, video games, and music collection.

Need a reason to upgrade? Take a peek at some of the best Dolby Atmos movies from 2015.

Gravity

If you haven’t experienced Dolby Atmos movies at home, this should be the first disc that you purchase. After all, the blockbuster took home multiple Oscars, including ones for Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, and Best Music (Original Score). In other words, you should know that it’s going to be one that will blow you away, from an audio standpoint. That’s a good thing too, since Sandra Bullock and an immersive audio track are basically the main focus of the movie. Released in 2015, the Gravity: Diamond Luxe Edition is gripping from beginning to end. That opening scene alone should be enough to hook you, but the aforementioned score, the explosions, and plenty of other atmospheric effects are pretty cool as well.

Mad Max: Fury Road

This isn’t just your average reboot. This one was helmed by George Miller, the same guy who directed Mel Gibson in the first three installments of the Mad Max saga. The faces may look a little different here, but this movie shows that the franchise hasn’t missed one maniacal beat. Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron fight across a post-apocalyptic wasteland to stay alive and protect some precious cargo. All the while, the Dolby Atmos track is assaulting you (in a good way!) with crazy cars, flying motorcycles, explosions, gunfire, and flailing guitar solos. It’s not just one of the best Dolby Atmos movies out there, but it’s one of the best films of 2015—and has an Oscar nomination to prove it!

American Sniper

Clint Eastwood’s Oscar-nominated look at the life of Chris Kyle is an emotional rollercoaster ride. Some of that is due to Bradley Cooper, who perfectly plays the late U.S. Navy SEAL. Of course, it also has to do with the suspense and action in the film, which is backed up by an awesome, demo-worthy Dolby Atmos track. Rolling tanks, gunshots, and explosions come from every angle, but that climactic sandstorm scene is the one that will get your adrenaline (and your AV system) pumping.

Enchanted Kingdom

From the people who gave us BBC Earth and Walking with Dinosaurs 3D, this BBC joint probably isn’t too well known to U.S. audiences—at least the ones without Dolby Atmos. That said, it features Idris Elba narrating an up-close peek at seven realms of Africa. The film also has some incredible AV, which includes eye-popping 3D effects. Of course, the Dolby Atmos track is the icing on the cake here, with spewing volcanoes, rumbling thunderstorms, crashing waterfalls, and immersive wildlife. It just may be closest you’ll ever get to the African jungle (and in some cases, the closest you’ll ever want to be).

Game of Thrones

Did you know that TV shows can benefit from Dolby Atmos as well? Well, not just any TV shows. To date, this is the only show that features a Dolby Atmos track—and it will completely spoil you. The action, the sights, the sounds, and the acting are all very elaborate on this show, so it makes sense that it would get the best-of-the-best when it comes to the sound. In 2015, HBO re-released the first two seasons as Steelbook Collector’s Sets, each with a new Dolby Atmos track. Whipping winds, bloody battles, blood-curdling screams, the occasional dragon swooping in, and even the show’s theme song all sound stellar, thanks to the addition of that extra dimension.

Everest

Believe it or not, a movie about the 1996 Mount Everest disaster is exactly the type of movie you want getting the Dolby Atmos treatment. It’s filled with famous faces, emotion, and action. Even better, it’s filled with tons of overhead sound effects. There are helicopters flying around, howling winds, thunder, and even falling snow that seems a bit too close for comfort. The big storm is definitely the highlight here. It’s sad, scary, and exactly the type of scene you want to have on hand for showing off just how awesome it is to have a Dolby Atmos system.

Sicario

It’s nice to see Emily Blunt in such a kick-ass role, especially when backed by a cast that includes both Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro. This critically acclaimed drama finds the three fighting in the war against drugs, but all is not what it seems to be. There are plenty of interesting twists and turns, but even better, a lot of great Dolby Atmos sound. It may not be as immersive as the last one on our list, but Sicario definitely has plenty of explosive moments and atmospheric sounds to immerse the listener. Heck, even some of the quieter, suspenseful scenes make this one a real standout for our list.

San Andreas

This may not be a great movie, but it’s a great example of how Dolby Atmos sound can elevate an entire movie. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a likable fireman, who wants to save his family from a natural disaster. It’s got helicopters, crashing glass, crunching metal, blaring sirens, and crumbling buildings aplenty. It also has the immersive rumble of earthquakes. Plus, about every two minutes, someone or something is falling, so don’t be surprised if you spend most of this movie’s 114-minute runtime ducking for cover.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation

This fifth installment in the MI franchise has Tom Cruise out to protect the world and his band of merry IMF misfits. It’s a surprisingly, super-fun adrenaline rush with an excellent soundtrack. It’s not exactly a non-stop barrage like San Andreas—and that’s okay. Instead, this track uses those height effects wisely, packing a punch only when necessary. The heavily hyped scene that has Cruise hanging from the side of a plane is worth the purchase price all on its own, but there are plenty of other thunderous effects, including car crashes, gunfire, immersive opera music, and one killer scene with some immersive Halo 5 gaming action.

The Fifth Element

So technically, this isn’t a 2015 movie; it’s not even movie from this decade. However, it is one of the biggest sci-fi cult classics, and often the first movie that Blu-ray fans reach for when demo time comes around. In 2015, Sony released the “Cinema Series” version, which adds in Dolby Atmos sound—and it’s simply mind-blowing. The studio actually managed to take a demo-worthy movie and make it even better, thanks to spaceships, explosions, music, and more, all with the magic of Dolby Atmos.

Upcoming Dolby Atmos Movies

Looking for even more Dolby Atmos movies to enjoy? Dolby and major movie studios are announcing new Atmos-enabled Blu-ray titles all the time. We’re still frothing at the mouth for Game of Thrones Steelbook Collector’s Editions for seasons 3, 4, and 5. Those are expected at some point, but don’t have exact release dates just yet.

This year, several companies are planning to re-release movies in the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format, complete with Dolby Atmos audio. A few interesting selections worth the AV upgrade include Sicario (March 1, 2016), Ender’s Game (March 1), and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (date TBD). Otherwise, we can expect Ron Howard’s In the Heart of the Sea to rock the room with Dolby Atmos sound on March 8, with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 franchise finale to follow on March 22.

Of course, while you wait for new discs, you can actually stream Dolby Atmos movies through VUDU. The streaming service currently has several 4K-enabled movies available for streaming with Dolby Atmos. That lineup includes several of the titles out on Blu-ray, as well as others like Man of Steel, Edge of Tomorrow, Pacific Rim, Entourage, and more.

Get Ready!

Before you start collecting movies, you’re going to need to upgrade your equipment. A Dolby Atmos-enabled receiver is an absolute necessity. There are several models available, from different manufacturers at various price points.

Of course, you’ll also need the speakers.  If you aren’t looking for reasons to get up on a ladder, Klipsch Reference Premiere Dolby Atmos-Enabled speakers can add this exciting technology  into almost home theater setup.

As mentioned earlier, the Klipsch RP-140SA elevation speaker can add Dolby Atmos sound capabilities to your current passive speakers. The company’s Reference Premiere RP-280FA floorstanding speaker packs that module right into the RP-280F floorstanding speaker for a complete sound solution. And rounding out the setup is the Reference Premiere RP-450CA, which matches the special finishes of the RP-280FA speakers.

While Dolby does not yet certify architectural speakers as Atmos-enabled speakers, many in-ceiling speakers match their specs. Any of the Klipsch in-ceiling speakers will do the trick, including the CDT-5650-C II and CDT-5800-C II in-ceiling speakers, two particularly great speakers for Dolby Atmos because of their Controlled Dispersion Technology.

Consult Dolby.com for a list of compatible makes and models of equipment, as well as speaker configurations and installation tips. You won’t want to miss out on the next true revolution in home theater sound since surround sound.

Do you need an AV Receiver (AVR) with Reference Premiere HD Wireless speakers?

No! Say goodbye to the days of clunky AVRs that weigh as much as medium-sized child with interfaces that were outdated back when President Clinton was in office. Instead, the Klipsch HD Control Center has all of the inputs you need for gaming systems, cable TV, streaming or whatever: 4x HDMI, Digital Optical, Digital Coaxial, Stereo RCA and Bluetooth®.

Simply put, it replaces the AVR and is necessary for any Reference Premiere HD Wireless system.

Also, each speaker has integrated electronics (amplification and processing), which are perfectly matched to extract every ounce of performance possible out of each driver. So, each driver in our speakers has its own amplifier. For example, the RP-440WF has five separate amplifier channels for its high-frequency driver and four woofers.

This eliminates the guesswork related to pairing the correct amp, which means they deliver ultimate performance and no more blown drivers! (Who doesn’t love that?)

Can I add the RP-440WF, RP-140WM or RP-440WC to my current passive home theater system?

No. You will need to use these speakers in conjunction with the Klipsch HD Control Center.

What is setup like for Reference Premiere HD Wireless?

Setup for Reference Premiere HD Wireless is a breeze. Once out of the box, it should take less than five minutes, even if you’re going with a 5.1 or 7.2 system. Watch our quick start guide to see just how easy it is – thanks to our proprietary Smart Speaker Selector.

Is Reference Premiere HD Wireless totally wireless (cable-free)?

Reference Premiere HD Wireless supports lossless wireless transmission of audio from the HD Control Center to the speakers. The speakers and the HD Control Center do require a power source.

Do I need to run speaker wire for my Reference Premiere HD Wireless system?

Nope. Simply plug each speaker into an available outlet, use the Smart Speaker selector on the speakers’ rear panel and follow a few simple on-screen instructions.

Reference Premiere HD Wireless Speaker Selector

How do the Reference Premiere HD Wireless speakers know their positions?

Reference Premiere HD Wireless speakers communicate with the HD Control Center through WiSA technology, which contains timing information that keeps all of the speakers in perfect sync. Klipsch’s proprietary Smart Speaker Selector provides a single-button solution on the rear of each speaker that seamlessly makes the connection to the HD Control Center without the need for speaker wire or a complicated A/V receiver.

What is WiSA technology?

Simply put, WiSA is the technology that allows Klipsch Reference Premiere HD Wireless speakers to communicate with each other wirelessly, ensuring high definition wireless audio.

How is WiSA different than other wireless audio technologies?

With the WiSA protocol, content is transmitted over the 5.0 gigahertz band. Most WiFi traffic in your home is operating at the crowded 2.4 gigahertz band, which is used by cordless phones, baby monitors, wireless internet hubs, microwaves, etc.

The WiSA network is constantly monitoring the channels available to it. Anytime the system sees a channel with less traffic than the one it’s on, it will seamlessly jump to the new channel. This allows for robust transmission of your content, eliminating dropouts.

Better sound quality. Better connection. No Bullshit.

Does the new WiSA standard enable transmission that sounds better than that of a CD? Explain the mechanism that makes this possible.

The WiSA network transmits lossless audio at rates up to 96kHz/24-bit resolution. It contains much more resolution than a typical CD at 48kHz/16-bit resolution. To preserve the quality of the source, we transmit the source material at its native rate all the way to the speaker. If the input is at 192kHz, we do a sample rate conversion to 96kHz.

How much of an audio delay is there?

Less than 5 milliseconds, which is inaudible to the human ear. This is superior to other wireless technologies.

Can I stream Bluetooth® from my phone, tablet or computer?

Yes, the HD Control Center supports high quality Bluetooth® streaming from enabled devices.

What surround modes does Reference Premiere HD Wireless support?

Currently, the HD Control Center supports the following surround modes for Reference Premiere HD Wireless speakers:

  • Stereo
  • Direct
  • All-Channel Stereo
  • Dolby PLIIx Movie
  • Dolby PLIIx Music
  • Dolby PLIIx Game
  • DTS Neo:6 Cinema
  • DTS Neo:6 Music
  • Dolby EX

Are Reference Premiere HD Wireless Speakers compatible with Dolby Atmos?

Reference Premiere HD Wireless can play back Dolby Atmos content; however, it does not support elevation channels at this time. This is an addition we could make for version 2.0!
